The Hunter Valley’s Best Range of Australian Natives

Nursery Open 7 Days: 9-5 weekdays, 10-2 weekends

Muswellbrook Forest Nursery stocks a large variety of native shrubs, both native (Finger Limes) and exotic citrus, deciduous fruit and ornamental trees, herbs and vegetable seedlings, potted colour, Proteas, indoor plants and ferns, as well as the more popular lines for general planting.

Specialising in Australian natives, we also keep a range of introduced species suited to this region and also have a good choice of more advanced plants, both native and exotics, from ground covers through to tall shade trees; evergreen and deciduous.

We can supply you with tree guards and fertilisers, weed mat, stakes and tree-tie, potting mix and compost and selected chemicals for home use. We are also your outlet for innovative products such as Ecofibre Hemp Mulch from a local grower; and Troforte M fertiliser, an Australian made product which feeds both your plants and your soil in the one application.

Muswellbrook Forest Nursery’s broad range of plants, including local provenance native tubestock are ideal for plantings on farms, mines, studs and vineyards, as well as for riparian repair and regeneration.

Native plant benefits are multidimensional surviving through droughts and good seasons and the best option for projects such as:

  • windbreaks, shade and shelter belts for your farm animals and crops
  • rehabilitation for depleted areas and erosion control
  • native regeneration as corridors for fauna and to boost biodiversity.

We produce tubestock onsite from local provenance seed wherever possible. Contract orders are negotiable and can be grown as tubes or in hiko containers or even larger sizes, whatever your requirement. Our aim is to help you get the best results for your project and for the environment.

 About Us

hlm-08112012-069

Muswellbrook Forest Nursery (MFN) began operations on the Muswellbrook site under the then Forestry Commission of NSW in 1965.

hunterlandmanagement_logo-200wHunter Land Management (HLM) took over the business in August 2012 with the aim to continue to provide professional advice and quality plants to the public.

Both branches of the business are symbiotic with HLM providing seed collection services for both MFN and our customers, and MFN providing plants to HLM for their projects. In conjunction with HLM we can provide all stages of your project from planning and seed collecting, through to growing, site preparation, planting and maintenance. We can give advice on site preparation and planting for both the home gardener as well as larger scale planting.

MFN is keen to foster relationships within our local community, we are actively involved with local Landcare and the GER Stepping Stones Project in the Upper Hunter Valley. It is always enjoyable to share experiences and learn about different localities within our region and what grows best locally through this interaction.
